Ohiopyle State Park is a hiker's paradise, with over 125 miles of trails to explore. One of the most popular trails is the McCune Trail, a 3.7-mile loop trail that offers stunning views of the Youghiogheny River Valley.
The McCune Trail begins at the Sugarloaf Mountain trailhead, located off of Sugarloaf Road. After about a mile, the trail reaches an overlook with a bench, where you can take a break and enjoy the views.
From the overlook, the trail continues on a more level path, passing through a variety of habitats, including meadows, forests, and rock formations. The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow, and there are no major elevation changes.
After about two miles, the trail reaches a junction with the Baughman Rocks Trail. If you're looking for a longer hike, you can continue on the Baughman Rocks Trail for another 1.5 miles to reach the Baughman Rocks overlook.
To complete the McCune Trail loop, turn left at the junction and follow the trail back to the Sugarloaf Mountain trailhead. The total round-trip distance is 3.7 miles, and the hike should take about 1.5 hours to complete.
